Front Row Seat: Beth Langston & Jessica Brick, Co-Founders of Please Be Seated CLT

Welcome back to the 'Front Row Seat,' where we offer an exclusive glimpse into the lives and stories of dynamic individuals shaping the vibrant tapestry of Charlotte. In this second edition, we have a chat with Beth Langston and Jessica Brick, the dynamic duo behind Please Be Seated CLT, a new business in the Queen City designed to alleviate all your tablescape stresses!

Upon discovering Please Be Seated CLT, my excitement soared. Like many of you, I adore a well-hosted dinner party, yet my execution in planning my own often falls short, especially when it comes to preparing the table. I imagine this is the case for quite a few of you who read the blog, which is why it was high time we sat down with Beth and Jessica to learn more about their business and understand why reaching out to them for your next big event is a wise decision!

Can you share a bit about yourselves and the inspiration behind developing Please Be Seated CLT?

Please Be Seated CLT was created by two busy moms who share an eye for detail, love to bring friends together, and enjoy creating a beautiful and welcoming table to gather around.

Please Be Seated aims to take the stress away from hosting. Each detail on your table will be expertly executed, from the place settings, glasses, chargers, flowers, and even the parade of tiny tea lights. Please Be Seated provides a table that’s sure to be a conversation starter during your intimate gathering.

The table is a place to gather, to tell stories, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company.

What types of events do you typically cater to, and could you provide insights into what a booking with Please Be Seated CLT entails?

At PBS, we cater to a more intimate gathering. Our goal is to serve groups of 16 and under. This can be anything from a couples' dinner, birthday brunch, women’s luncheon, supper clubs, anniversary celebrations, dinner party, family gathering, bridal luncheon, gentlemen's night, or men’s poker night! We can work with a client to create a certain look, or the client can choose from any of our set tablescapes.

What are your favorite types of events to create tablescapes for, and what draws you to those particular occasions?

I would have to say our sweet spot is an intimate group of 8-10. Some of our favorite gatherings occur when clients book a local chef and ask us to create a tablescape. We truly enjoy collaborating with local chefs - the combination of amazing food and a beautiful table makes for an unforgettable gathering!

For our readers who are planning their first dinner party, what are the essential Dos and Don'ts of a fabulous host?

DO: Hire Please Be Seated! 😄

DON'T: Take it all on yourself. It can be overwhelming, and you want to relax and enjoy your company and gathering.

Although your company is still relatively new, can you share some of your favorite tablescape projects you've worked on, and what made them special?

We have truly enjoyed every table we've set. One that particularly stands out is the table we designed for Amber Ireland, the owner of Twist N Shout Balloons. She hosted a 'Friendsgiving' at her house and requested the colors purple and green, eschewing the traditional fall palette. Upon completion of the table, she added a stunning balloon backdrop. Collaborating with local businesses can truly make a difference.
