Private Viewing of Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds Exhibit
Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of attending a private viewing of the Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds exhibit, hosted by the Young Affiliates of the Mint at the Mint Museum Uptown. The event kicked off with guests enjoying drinks and Picasso-inspired cuisine from Something Classic Catering, while being treated to a mesmerizing performance by the talented ladies of Síncopa Flamenco. The evening culminated with a Q&A session featuring the Chief Curator of the Mint Museum, Dr. Jennifer Sudul Edwards, who discussed the exhibition's history and its importance to the museum's impressive collection.
Earlier in the evening, I had the pleasure of meeting and befriending Carla Aaron-Lopez, an artist and the chairwoman of Talking Walls - a local non-profit organization that showcases a diverse range of artistic talent from across the Southeast region, as well as national and international artists. The Mint Museum and Talking Walls partnered to invite ten artists and collectives to create murals around Charlotte, inspired by Pablo Picasso's landscapes or his monumental anti-war painting, Guernica. Before leaving the event, I had the opportunity to admire two of these stunning pieces, created by artists ARKO and CHD:WCK!, which were both housed on-site in the Queens Room. I was truly awestruck by their beauty!
If you haven’t had the chance to see Picasso’s Landscapes: Out of Bounds exhibition at the Mint Museum, you have until May 21st. Tickets are available for purchase here.
